Hello, hijinx-lovers! The 2024 market season has concluded and I have entered my market-free time in January. Art markets gradually begin again in February and the Dane County Farmer’s Market begins in April. I hope to host a few workshops during this off-season but I am looking for commission projects to fill my time and pay my bills!
I am typically willing to customize the work that is already offered in my shop. For example making a rug in another color or size, screen printing a design on a different type of shirt or in a different color, printing an art print in another size, etc. For this, I would charge the regular amount and allow 2-3 weeks of processing time.
I am looking for larger scale projects in which I can explore my favorite creative mediums.
My favorite mediums include illustration, rug-making, graphic design, screen printing, collage/mixed media, and painting.
Most of my work starts with an illustration and then gets applied to a finished work using one of my mediums. I have found that my cartoony graphic illustration style translates well into rug-making and screen printing. For my rugs, I will design the rug and make it for either wall-hanging or tabletop/floor.
For screen printing, I primarily print on apparel. Please note that I am not a commercial screen printer. I prefer designing my own prints and I have the capacity to print in small batches only. I can print up to 3-colors, each extra color would be an additional charge. I also enjoy helping out other artists getting their work onto sellable items at an affordable price.
I have a BFA degree in graphic design. I worked as a graphic designer on campus for the dining services. I would mainly design posters and social media posts, flyers and pamphlets, signs, and logos. I also have experience with packaging design in my own business. I like to have fun with my design.
Collage and mixed media is another form of art-making that I enjoy. I like to use upcycled or thrifted materials to give life to things that may otherwise end up in the landfill. In other words, give me your shit and I will make it look pretty!
Finally, I am skilled in painting with acrylic and watercolor paints. I prefer nature and portraits for my paintings. I like combining pen or market with my watercolor paintings.
Examples of all of these mediums are available in my portfolio or in my shop.
The main reason to hire any artist for commission is to get an original, one-of-a-kind piece that is infused with both the artist’s vision as well as your own. Being the creator, I like to have my creative freedom. I am open to collaboration and following inspiration provided by the client. A few descriptive words to describe my work: humorous, whimsical, loud, bright, bold, unhinged. In addition to all stated above, you would also be supporting an independent artist, a small business, and my mission to spread sunshine and solidarity through art and art-making.
I am open to working with individuals or businesses on a small or large scale. As previously mentioned, I am also interested in helping other artists achieve their artistic visions. I can provide labor and resources for a variety of media but I can also teach you how to do what I do with your work.
I will prioritize larger projects that are $200 or more. With that being said, I am still willing to do smaller projects and I am willing to try to work within your budget.
The easiest way for me to get your information and to get you a quote will be through my commission inquiry form. These forms will reach me directly and I will contact you if I believe the project would be a good fit for the both of us. Given the information you provide, I will determine if the project is possible within your budget and potentially explore alternatives.
The quotes are just estimates. This would be determined by an hourly rate based on your budget, the medium, the scale, and the materials used. I will ask for a 50% downpayment of the initial quote and I will inform you if I am nearing the estimated time or if I complete the project before the estimated time.
